BLC Lois McNeil ‘Ace’ x Cattleya Valentine coerulea
is a more traditional complex blue bifoliate hybrid. Both are well-known for producing clusters of five to six or more 4+ inch flowers on spikes well above the foliage. Both are moderately large plants but have compact growing habits. This cross has been growing vigorously and should be an easy hybrid for specimen culture.

Cattleya Dupreana v coerulea ‘Kodama’
(warneri x warscewiczii)
This is an heirloom primary hybrid, originally registered in 1906 by Firmin Lambeau. It produces several 5-6” flowers that are light blue with a darker blue lip. The clone ‘Kodama’ has particularly nice shape and color.

Cattleya Edith Loomis coerulea
(walkeriana ‘monteazul’ x bowringiana coerulea)
is a remake of an older hybrid that has been made with blue parents. The plants are stocky, compact growers with 3 to 4 relatively large flowers that will be a light blue with a darker blue lip.

Cattleya intermedia v aquinii coerulea
is a Brazilian species. The fragrant 4” flowers are a splash petal form that has white petals and sepals with dark blue splashes and a dark blue lip.

Cattleya Little Leopard coerulea
(amethystoglossa 'SVO Blue Sky' x aclandiae 'Blue Sky' HCC/AOS)
This hybrid registered as Cattleya Little Leopard is between two outstanding parents. C amethystoglossa coerulea produces heads of 3” flowers. The petals and sepals are white with some amount of indigo-blue spotting. The lip is also a deep indigo-blue. This color form is extremely rare in the orchid world. C aclandiae ‘Blue Sky’ has light olive green flowers with dark mahogany spots and the lip is coerulea. It has a very heavy substance and has a waxy texture. Some of these hybrids may bloom out pink but we are hoping for several to be a very nice blue!

LC Blue Boy 'Gainsborough' HCC/AOS x self
C Ariel coerulea x LC Elegans)
LC Blue Boy was the first truly successful blue hybrid since the early 1900’s. Registered by B.O. Bracey in 1960, this hybrid went on to make many more progeny. This plant is a selfing of the awarded clone and should be very similar, large heads of 4” well-shaped blue flowers.

LC Eximia v coerulea ‘Sea God’
(C warneri coerulea x L purpurata ‘werkhauserii’)
produces light flowers with a wonderful blue lip. This cross was originally registered by Veitch in 1890 and has been remade with superior blue parents. The clone ‘Sea God’ has a remarkable dark lip. Plant form is large with groups of four or more large flowers.

LC Kaizu Comfort ‘Baby Blue’
(Cattleya intermedia alba x Laelia bradei alba)
is the most exciting clone from our original cross. Although we did not register LC Kaizu Comfort, we made the cross in the late 1980s using the alba forms of both species. All of the progeny came out light pink with a delicate yellow lip except for the clone ‘Baby Blue’. This clone has 1¾” star-shaped flowers with the lightest tint of a subtle blue. This is an established division of our mother plant.

LC Nancy Dengenhardt
(LC Canhamiana ‘Azure Sky’ x C intermedia v aquinii coerulea)
is a new remake of this older 1960’s hybrid that has been bred for blue. The old pink form had classic shape from the three parents, Laelia purpurata, Cattleya mossiae, and Cattleya intermedia. This new breeding we expect flowers of medium to darker blue with darker lips and approximately fifty percent should have flared petals. We have not bloomed this cross yet and are showing both parents.
