Cattleya bowringiana var. coerulea
('Blue Angel' x self)

Cattleya Capra coerulea x Cattleya intermedia coerulea 'Delft Flare'
Cattleya Capra is a primary hybrid between Cattleya amethystoglossa and Cattleya labiata. It was originally made by the English firm of Charlesworth LTD in 1910. Here we have used the remade coerulea form which has regal stature, excellent color and substance. We have mated it with an advanced form of Cattleya intermedia aquinii coerulea. We expect moderate sized plants bearing heads of four to five 4” flowers with excellent color - about 50% should be splashed. All of this grex should have excellent lip color.

Cattleya Dominiana
(intermedia coerulea x maxima coerulea ‘Hector’ AM/AOS)
This is a new re-make using blue parents of an old heirloom hybrid originally made by Veitch in 1859. We expect the plants to be compact growers with well-spaced clusters of light blue 4” flowers with a midnight blue lip. Maxima ‘Hector’ has only a small amount of veining in its lip but we are anticipating that some plants from this cross to bloom with a large amount of striping in the lip and hopefully the yellow barb typical of Cattleya maxima.

Cattleya Edith Loomis coerulea
(walkeriana ‘Monte Azul’ x bowringiana coerulea)
is a remake of an older hybrid that has been made with blue parents. The plants are stocky, compact growers with 3 to 4 relatively large flowers that will be a light blue with a darker blue lip.

Joan Landsberg has four to five 5” flowers that are distinguished by their clear blue sepal and petal color and excellent shape. LC Amoena ‘Blue Magic’ will dominate this hybrid with the shape from its Laelia anceps parentage. We hope that many of the progeny will have the rounder shape and tepal color while still being displayed well above the foliage.

LC Cariad's Mini Quinee
Mini Quinee produces baby blue 4” round flowers on compact plants. We remade this cross using an advanced form of intermedia aquinii coerulea which should produce many flared petal seedlings. Full range of flowers will be from some that look like a dwarf intermedia coerulea on steroids, some with lots of color saturation in the petals from the Mini Purple parent and some great flared petal plants similar to our picture. All are very easy growers and are expected to stay under 8” growth and are much more compact growers than the Mini Purple parent. Some award winners in here!
