C. schoefieldiana is a Brazilian species that blooms in late Spring to early Summer. The flowers are similar to that of Cattleya granulosa, however, they are larger and the plant stands taller. The flowers stand well-above the foliage with three to four 4” flowers per spike. C. velutina is another species from Brazil with glossy flowers that are very attractive – the petals and sepals are bronze/yellow with brown spots and the lip has a wide-open central lobe and purple venation. The flowers are also extremely fragrant and have a heavy, waxy substance. The resulting hybrid should produce some beautiful spotted flowers on strong, upright plants.

(About 2+ years from blooming size.)
