Epi. melistagum

This Mexican species is a reed-stem Epidendrum. The upright spherical heads of green flowers open simultaneously and have a lemon scent in the morning – fragrant! There are a number of Epidendrum difforme type species, all looking similar but Epi melistagum is the best – it has the largest individual flowers and heads of flowers making the best show. Rare in many collections! They grow in intermediate to bright light.
