(Syn Cattleya tigrina) Brazilian species. Cattleya leopoldii ‘Merkel’ is a tall plant (3 foot) with 30 or more 4” flowers per inflorescence– very nice shape, nice spotting, and nice carriage. ‘Mendenhall’ has darker mahogany flowers with dark burgundy spots with a florescent lavender lip on a slightly smaller plant. Hopefully there will be some award winners in this cross. ALL will be extremely showy!
