(‘Gand’s x ‘Jewell’)
Species from Belize, Guatamala, and Mexico. The 1” mildly fragrant flowers are displayed on a tall branching flower stem that has up to 50 flowers. The reddish flowers are similar to Encyclia aromatica but much more showy. It is temperature tolerant and needs to have dryer, cooler winters. We used our two best clones of this species to make the sib crossing and have seen some wonderful displays of flower from the seedlings we've bloomed so far. The plants are rare to find in modern collections.
(4" and 6" baskets are blooming size.)
