(L. cinnabarina x Enc. vitellina)
This is quite a unique primary hybrid. Laelia cinnabarina is a Brazilian rupcolious Laelia species that has been used as a parent in contemporary Cattleya hybrids because of its dominant brilliant color. The bright orange 3½” flowers are star-shaped and sit atop flower stems up to 2 feet long and can have five to fifteen flowers. Encyclia (Prosthechea) vitellina is a really fantastic Mexican species that has unusual silvery-green foliage that produces tall inflorescences carrying many long-lived 2” bright orange flowers. We are expecting to see masses of orange flowers on long spikes.
(About 2+ years from blooming size.)
